We are asking for a loan of 98.000€ to COOP57 (Ethical and Supportive Financial Services), an organization we belong to. In order to do so, we need guarantors for the requested amount, or most of it. And we have given ourselves a 40-day deadline. That is why we need you.

We are doing this to initiate a process of independence from traditional banks, to make our projects less precarious, to consolidate the confidence bonds with the/our community and to stimulate a social and supportive economy.

Festival ZEMOS98

An annual event that takes place in Seville and that, as the years go by, has outlined a theoretical, practical, political and vital corpus. Remix, copylove, expanded education, form part of this body. The ZEMOS98 festival has evolved from being a short film festival at start, into being a meeting which gathers conversations taking place in certain sectors of society worried about rethinking culture, politics, social relations. In this respect, we are part of a wider debate, which does not belong to us. The Festival does as a tool for amplifying, problematize and redistribute these questions so as to reach more people. If we had to define what type of festival we are, our backbone would be half way between open culture and critical thinking and our limbs would be the audiovisual, the educative, the digital...

98Lab

98lab is an open and situated laboratory that works as an space for investigation, thinking and production of cultural creation and new media. An opportunity to generate an educational itinerary aside formal education, focusing on matters and practices ranging from digital and audiovisual culture, to feminisms or to models of civic participation, with the aim to encourage critical thinking. 98lab is also a container of educational activities, workshops, microworshops, presentations, residencies, that ZEMOS98 organizes and produces.

Remapping Europe

A project to reimagine our identity, remap our imaginary, generate cross-border stories. A project in which to think through the notions of identity, body, border, Europe and migration. One of the first activities started is European Souvenirs, a live cinema show from the personal and collective memories in the audiovisual archives of Europe.

Recordar TV was an internet television built up from the perspective of the elderly. A tool to provide, not just with technological capacities to a collective deprived from this privilege, but also to promote their stories, their memory and their way of understanding the present.

Publications

We have always understood our publications as a way to expand the processes of research/action/participation that have been taking place within the ZEMOS98 Festival. We would like to point out in this respect the collective narrative of "Codigo Fuente: La Remezcla", a book that summarizes a time travel through concepts like memory, archive, remix, palimpsest, digital culture, science fiction, artistic avant-garde, etc. Can a book be a re-programmable software? Can a story be told and let the reader have the source code to remix it?
